Tacna to Arequipa 366 kilometers

Tacna to Arica - Chile 56 kilometers

Located in the Southern end of the country, at the frontier with Chile. A peaceful and sunlit valley that comprises regions of the desertic coast and sierra (mountain ranges).

Tacna is a small town with a great economical development due to the popular "zona franca" area (Zotac) - Duty-Free-Zone. Currently it has become the favorite place for buyers of appliances and clothes which are retailed at the famous small markets.

Tourist Site Attractions:

Pocollay Town, located 5 kilometers from Tacna. A town with excellent weather, a beautiful country side with traditional restaurants.

Thermal Baths of Calientes, located 23 kilometers from Tacna. Rural town that has thermic-medicinal waters known for their therapeutical properties for the skin.

The spa Boca del Rio (Mouth of the Rivers), is one of the best and most visited beaches. It is located at 53 kilometers from Tacna. It beach is considered one of the best of Tacna; it is wide and flat with shallow waters.

Petrogliphs of San Francisco de Miculla, located 22 kilometers from Tacna. It is a place surrounded by a barren landscape between the Mountains Wawapas and Miculla. There are drawings of humans hunting, dancing or fighting with animals. The studies consider their age varies from the Tihuanaco culture (500 a.C.) to 1100 and 1445 a.C.

The Toquepala Cave, located 160 kilometers from Tacna. Cave paintings from 7500 b.C., were found there. The scenes represent how hunters formed a circle around their preys.

The town Candarave, located 164 kilometers from Tacna. Its name means "Place of Condors" - aymara language; because it is located at the foot of the Yuracmani volcanoe. The tranquility of the place makes of it an ideal place to rest.

Lagoon of Suches o Huaytire Yuracmani, located 35 kilometers from Candarave.
