INKA TRAIL



4 DAYS / 3 NIGTHS


Day 1: CUSCO / HUAYLLABAMBA:

We pick you up at your hotel at 7:30 and travel in bus to Piskakucho kilometer 82, where the trail starts. On arrival at kilometer 82, it is necessary to show entrance tickets, passport and student card. To start the trail, we cross de Vilcanota River and follow its route to the right. The first day is relative easy, and we will have great views of the site and Inca Fortress (Huillca Raccay), the vast Inca site ­ Llactapata and also know as Patallacta, the Urubamba mountain range and the beautiful snow-capped peak of Veronica ( 5860 m ). Our first campsite will be in the small village of Wayllabamba. At 3000m.

Day 2: HUYALLABAMBA / PACAYMAYU:

After waking up at 6 am for breakfast, we will start a steed ascent towards the highest pass (abra de warmiwañusca ­ Dead Woman´s pass at 4,200 m ). On this day we will climb 1,200 m and a real sense of achievement is felt on reaching the top. After a rest here, we begin the descent to the second campsite which in located at Pacaymayu at 3,550 m .

Day 3: PACAYMAYU / WIÑAYWAYNA:

Again we wake up for breakfast at 6 am and start the day with a climb to visit the archaeological site of Runcuracay, and to reach the second highest point to the trail (Runkuracay pass at 4,000m). Views of the mountains and surrounding area, from these points, are spectacular. Then begins a steep descent from the pass leading to the Inca site “Sayacmarca” after this site the path continues thought a magnificent cloud forest, and we begin a new ascent up to the third highest point (3,680m) the scenery in this part of the trail and views from he third pass are exceptionally lovely. The Inca site “Puyupatamarca” meaning town in the clouds, is located a few minutes walk from the third pass and after visiting this, we continue walking onwards thought the cloud forest thought the impressive agricultural Inca site of Intipata until we arrive at our third campsite Wiñaywayna.

Day 4: WIÑAYWAYNA / MACHUPICCHU / CUSCO:

We leave the the last campsite at about 5:30 am on the final day, we will have the breakfast at 4:30 am. It is an early start in order to get Inti Punku (Sun gate) before sunrise. This is the place from where you will have you first dramatic view of Machupicchu, after some time there, we will down the last part of the trail the spot were you can take the classic photo ( a picture postcard shot) of this ancient city, and finally we visit Machupicchu itself . A walking tour is given by your guide an after this you can explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If still have energy you can also climb Huayna Picchu. You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes town (it can be reached by bus or on foot) for lunch and to be given your trail tickets back to Cusco . The train usually leaves at 16:30 and e will arrive back in Cusco at about 20:45.
