Climbing Huascarán
The Huascaran is a snowed peak located in the occidental mountain range of Peru central andes at Yungay province, in the area known as Blanca Mountain Range.
Its name comes from the Quechua “waskha”(range) and ran (stone, rocky mountains) therefore Huascaran means “mountain range”. There are many legends about the Huascaran names origin, but the most believable is that the Inca Huayna Capac in a trip by Yungay gives to the highest and beautiful mountain the name of his first child Huascar, that’s the reason why Huascaran also means the mountain of Huascar.
The snowed Huascaran (6768 meters) is the tallest mountain range known in Peru. It offers countless ascent routes by the most diverse grounds of ice, rock and snow. Our expedition is by the normal route or”La Garganta” route that also leads towards the north summit. It is important to have a correct acclimatize process for the success of the ascent.
The base camp will be installed at 4300 m.a.s.l. and along the ascent two height
camps: C1 (5300 m.a.s.l) and C2(5800 m.a.s.l.).
